Central Thailand is a wonderful country for birding, with varying habitats and a large variety bird species, it certainly attracts lots of people! I joined Kenneth, Matthew and James on a group tour visiting national parks near Bangkok such as Kaeng Krachan (KKC) and Khao Yai. The trip lasted from the 3rd to the 10th of April.
泰中部观鸟的绝佳之地，拥有多样化的栖息地和丰富的鸟类种，自然吸引了众多游客！我跟了Kenneth、Matthew和James一起参加了一个旅行团，游览了曼谷附近的几个国家公园，例如岗卡章国家公园 (KKC）和考艾国家公园。行程从4月3日持续到10日。
Day 1:
After an early morning flight, we landed at Bangkok at around noon, where we met up with out local guide Isara. Once we were out of the gate, I immediately felt the hot, mosit air hit my face, it was around 40 degrees! After a quick lunch, we headed out to the saltpans, where we would be looking for Spoon-billed Sandpipers. Once we arrived, I picked up a Little Tern.
我们中午左右抵达曼谷，与当地向导Isara会面。刚出机场， 看到了气温大约有40度！简单吃过午饭后，我们前往盐田，在那里寻找勺嘴鹬。到达盐田后，我却意外地发现了一只白额燕鸥。
We soon located a large flock of waders, mainly consisting of stints and sand plovers, but soon Isara exclaimed he had found the sandpiper! We all scrambled to get views, and we saw the bird feeding non-stop near the edge of the flock. This critically endangered bird will soon fly back to its breeding grounds in the northern tundras of Kamchatka.
我们很快发现了一大群涉禽，主要由滨鹬和沙鸻组成，但Isara随即惊呼他找到了勺嘴鹬！我们都争先恐后地去看，只见这只鸟在鸟群边缘不停地觅食。
On our way out, a male Siberian Sand Plover posed nicely, we rarely get to see them this close back in Hong Kong.
走的时候发现了一只蒙古沙鴴，香港很难那么近看到他。
With that, we drove the remaining journey to our hotel and prepared for the following day.
于是，我们驱车前往酒店，为第二天的行程做准备。
Day 2:
We had a comparatively late start today, even having time to eat a nice breakfast before heading in to the park! At the hotel, we picked up common resident including Asian Barred Owlet and Siamese Pied Starlings.
今天我们出发得比较晚，甚至还有时间在去公园前享用一个早餐！在酒店，我们看到了一些常见的鸟类，包括暹罗斑椋鸟和斑頭鵂鶹。
We headed into the national park, where we would be looking at the known nest sites. Our first location would be for the Red and Black Broadbill, but before we got there we saw a Rufous bellied Eagle soaring high up and a Red-wattled Lapwing.
我们前往国家公园，打算在那里寻找鸟巢地点。我们的第一站是红黑阔嘴鸟的巢，但在到达之前，我们看到一只棕腹隼雕在高空翱翔，还有一只肉垂麦鸡。
Once we arrived at the nest location, we were immediately greeted by a pair of Golden Crested Mynas, which were visiting a nest site on a large tree.
我们到了巢的附近，就看到一对金冠树八哥。
After a bit of waiting, a pair of Black and Red Broadbills finally flew down onto the nest, where they stood for a while before disappearing back into the forest.
等了半个少时之后，两只红黑阔嘴鸟飞到它的巢上，全部人都看得很好！
Some other birds which we picked up included Blue Eared Barbet, Taiga Flycatcher and Indian Cuckoo.
还看到蓝耳拟啄木鸟，红喉姬鹟和四声杜鹃。
We also managed to get a Red-throated Barbet at it's nest, I only managed to get it peering out of it's nest hole.
我们拍到了一只丽色拟啄木鸟在巢穴里，但我只拍到了它从巢穴洞里探出头来的照片。
One of the rarest hornbill species in KKC is the Rusty Cheeked Hornbill, we were lucky this time in that there was a nest around, or else it would be extremely hard to find them in the non-breeding season. It was quite nice to see 3 birds visiting the nest, the two other birds are probably the young from last year, following the male around and collecting experience before they mature and move into their own territories.
在KKC，锈颊犀鸟是最稀有的犀鸟之一。这次我们很幸运，正好在附近发现了一个鸟巢，否则在非繁殖季节找到它们将极其困难。

At the hornbill site, a pair of Banded Broadbills dropped by, however they soon flew off into the canopy. Before we left for lunch, a party of Dusky Langurs gave everyone amazing views.
在犀鸟栖息地，一对斑胸阔嘴鸟短暂停留，但很快就飞进了树冠层。午饭前，一群郁乌叶猴让大家大饱眼福。
After lunch, we tried for the elusive White-fronted Scops Owl, however after lots of searching we still came out empty handed. Our efforts were not in vain, as we happened upon a very confiding Orange-breasted Trogon, which seemed unfazed the with large amount of birders surrounding it!
午饭后，我们尝试寻找行白额角鸮，最终还是空手而归。不过，我们的努力并非徒劳，因为我们遇到了一只非常不怕人的橙胸咬鹃，它似乎对周围众多的观鸟者毫不在意！
Afterwards, Isara seated us down in a hide for Blue Pittas, and the male was a beauty! It came out a few times to feed, however the female was more timid, only hopping out after a long while in the hide, but in the end it did hop out fully!
我们今天最后的目标就是一对蓝八色鸫。等了一点就有只公跳出来，雌性比较胆小，在躲藏处待了很久才跳出来，但最终还是完全跳了出来！
Day 3:
We had an early start, as we were going to the higher areas of the mountain near Phanoen Thung campsite, where we would get to see a few species. Before we got there, we picked up other species, such as Blue-beared Bee Eater and Olive Bulbul.
我们一大早就出发了，因为我们要去高山地，在那里可以看到一些不同鸟类。在我们到达那里之前，我们已经看到了其它的鸟，例如蓝须夜蜂虎和黄眉绿鹎。
Other than birds, there were a few Lar Gibbons, which swung high above in the treetops.
除了鸟之外，还有几只白掌長臂猿，它们在树梢上高高地荡来荡去。
Once we arrived at the campsite, we had a quick breakfast before a Great Hornbill was spotted at close range! It was unfazed by the huge amount of tourists gathering below it, as it flew from tree to tree in search of a meal.
我们到了高低之后吃了一个快早餐，突然有只雙角犀鳥飞到我们面前！
We visited a Long-tailed Broadbill nest, which had young inside of them, as the parents were coming back frequently with food.
我们去了一个长尾阔嘴鸟的巢穴，里面有幼鸟，所以鸟爸妈会回来。
Isara brought us to a spot for Red-Bearded Bee Eaters, although we did not see them, we did get a flock of Pin-tailed Parrotfinches, which is a very hard species to track down if the bamboo is not seeding. We were quite lucky to have bumped into this flock.

We drove on downwards, where there was a spot for a pair of nesting Olive-backed Woodpeckers, this was actually the first time a nest had been found within KKC, which shows just how hard this bird is! While we were waiting, I also picked up Bronzed Drongo, Hill Blue Flycatcher and a Bar-winged Flycatcher Shrike.

After a long wait, the male Olive-backed Woodpecker finally came back for a visit, and we all enjoyed great views of it perched at it's nest hole.
等待很久之后终于看到了一只公的綠背三趾啄木鳥回到巢里。

Our last stop before we headed back down the mountain was another spot for Red-bearded Bee Eaters and Banded Kingfishers. Soon after, one of the guides spotted the bee eater perched right in front of us. It didn't stay long though, and soon flew off into the distance.
下山前，我们最后一站是另一个赤须夜蜂虎和横斑翠鸟的栖息地。一个导游看见了蜂虎，我们全部人看到了都很开心。
Isara had walked of in search of the kingfishers, and once he came back he exclaimed he had heard them calling! Once we got to the spot, the bird was quite close, and it soon flew out in full view for everyone to see!
Isara出去寻找翠鸟，回来后他惊呼自己听到了翠鸟的叫声！我们赶到时，那只鸟离我们很近，很快它就飞了出来，让我们都看得一清二楚！
It was already past midday as we got back to the lunch site, on the way back we stopped for a Black-naped Monarch nest.
当我们回到午餐地点时，已经过了中午。回程途中，我们停下来观察了一个的黑枕王鶲巢.
After lunch, Isara shows us a nest site for a pair of Great Slaty Woodpeckers. After waiting for some time, I heard the calls of them approaching and just seconds later the pair was on the tree! After checking in on the nest hole, the pair flew off, leaving us all happy with the great views we managed!
吃了午餐之后，我们到了大灰啄木鸟的巢。等了几十分钟之后就一对飞到大树上，全部人看到都很快乐！

Near the nest site, I got better views of the Blue-beared Bee Eater and a female Banded Kingfisher.
在巢的附近还有蓝须夜蜂虎和横斑翠鸟。
Before we left, we added Black-thighed Falconet, Ashy Woodswallow and Forest Wagtail.
也有黑腿小隼，灰燕鵙和山鶺鴒。
Day 4:
Today was our last full day at KKC, and we were planning on spending most of the day in bird hides. Once we entered the campsite, Isara said he flushed a large bird, turns out it was a severely injured Great Eared Nightjar! It was sad for me to get my lifer in this form, the staff from KKC put it in a box but I doubt it will survive the day.
今天是我们最后一天在KKC，我们会去鸟屋。去鸟屋之前，我们进去了国家公园最后一次去找阔嘴鸟。我们已到了营地Isara看到了一只毛腿耳夜鹰，但它有很严重的受伤，一改都会死。
Seeing that there wasn't much activity near the campsite, we decided to drive along the main road in search of new birds. Since we had missed the Silver-breasted and Black and Yellow Broadbills the day before, these were our main target for the day. We got a few Yellow Bellied Warblers, which put on a nice show.
营地附近鸟类活动不多，我们决定沿着主路驱车前往，寻找新的鸟类。由于前一天错过了銀胸絲冠鳥和黑黄阔嘴鸟，所以今天的主要目标就是它们。我们看到了几只黄腹鹟莺，它们给我们带来了一场精彩的表演。
Isara suddenly shouted that he saw Silver-breasted Broadbills, and sure enough a pair was perched behind a think layer of leaves. They did not stay long though, I only managed a record pic before they disappeared. I also found a family of Heart-spotted Woodpeckers, which stayed high up and proved a nightmare to photograph.
突然，Isara大喊着说他看到了銀胸絲冠鳥，有一对停留了很少的时间。我还发现了一家黑冠啄木鸟。
Before we left, we spotted a Chestnut Breasted Malkoha perched up. A few Rufous-fronted Babblers also came through.
走之前还有一只栗胸地鹃和红额穗鹛。

We headed to a hide afterwards, with our main targets being Kalij Pheasants and Grey Peacock Pheasants. Once we arrived, one of the first birds we saw were a flock of Greater and Lesser Necklaced Laughingthrushes.
之后我们前往一个鸟屋，主要目标是看鸡。到达后，我们最先看到的鸟类之一是一群黑領噪鶥和小黑領噪鶥。
While we waited for the pheasants, a pair of Bar-backed Partridges came through, one of them even went for a drink. A Bronzed Drongo even came through.
在等鸡的时候，两只褐胸山鹧鸪走过来喝水，一只古铜色卷尾跟着他们。
There were a few flycatchers around, including Malaysian Pied Fantails, Black-naped Monarch, Indochinese Blue Flycatcher, Chinese Blue Flycatcher and Yellow Rumped Flycatchers.
我见到了几种鹟，比如斑扇尾鹟，黑枕王鹟，印支蓝仙鹟，中华仙鹟和白眉姬鹟。
A few mammals were present, including Lesser Mouse-deer and a Northern Treeshrew.
有几只哺乳动物，包括小鼷鹿和北树鼩。
Some larger birds also came through, including Greater Yellownape, Streak-breasted Woodpecker, Racket-tailed Treepie and a Greater Racket-tailed Drongo.
也看见大的鸟，有大黄冠啄木鸟，斑胸绿啄木鸟，盘尾树鹊和大盘尾。

Before we left, we added a very shy Indochinese Green Magpie, which took a long time for it muster the courage for it to come out for a drink. Meanwhile, there were a few White-browed Scimitar Babblers, Abbot's Babbler and Green-eared Barbet.

Since the phesants hadn't shown for the 5 hours we were in the hide, we decided to move locations to try for Ferruginous Partridges. Once we arrived, we got some common birds including more Yellow Rumped Flycatchers, Siberian Blue Robin and another Lesser Mouse-deer.
因为我们要看的鸡五个小时都没出来，我们去第二个鸟屋看鏽紅林鷓鴣。我们已到就看到了白眉姬鹟，藍歌鴝和小鼷鹿。

Soon after, the Ferruginous Partirdge started calling, and after a bit of trying and a few of them running around the hide, we got cracking views of a male calling and a pair feeding together! This amazing experience certainly lifted my spirits after a hot day in the hide.
不久之后，鏽紅林鷓鴣开始叫。我们尝试了一会儿，几只鸟儿在跑来跑去，终于看到了雄鸟鸣叫和一对雌雄鸟一起觅食的精彩画面！
Day 5:
Today we were heading to Khao Yai National Park, where we would be staying for the rest of our time in Thailand. Before we started the long drive, we birded along some of the farmland area in the outskirts of KKC. One of the first birds we got were a pair of Indian Thick-knees.
今天我们要去考艾国家公园，我们将在那里度过在泰国的剩余时光。出发前，我们在KKC郊区的农田里观鸟。我们最先看到的鸟类之一是一对印度石鸻。
Along the grassland, we added a few other birds, including Golden-headed Cisticola, Siberian Rubythroat, Grey-breasted Prinia and a few Baya Weavers.

We tried for some Chestnut Capped Babbler, and we did get a pair of them which showed pretty nicely. Before we headed back for breakfast, a Oriental Honey Buzzard circled above us giving us amazing views.
我们尝试寻找，果然看到了两只紅頂鶥。在我们返回餐厅吃早餐之前，一只鳳頭蜂鷹在我们头顶盘旋。
After packing up our stuff, we started the long drive to Khao Yai. On the way, we stopped at Wat Tham Bo Pla temple for the very endemic Rufous Limestone Babbler. It's range is restricted to within the Saraburi district of Thailand, and it's considered the only "tickable" Thai endemic with the other 2 being probably extinct and another very unstable. Once we arrived at it's preferred limestone habitat, we waited for it to show.
收拾好行李后，我们开始了前往考艾的长途驱车之旅。途中，我们停在观音洞看棕灰岩鹪鹛。是一只泰国特有的鸟类，是这个地方全世界看的最好的地方。
几个小时后，我们终于看到了几只鸟，但它们飞得非常快，我只拍到了记录照片。
Day 6:
We were aiming to get to all of the known nest site today, as this was the only day where we would actually enter main area of the national park. We went for a Wreathed Hornbill nest during the morning, while I had seen one flying by at KKC, a perched individual would be amazing. While we waited, we got birds such as Banded Kingfisher, Asian Fairy Bluebird and Banded Bay Cuckoo.
我们今天的目标是探访所有已知的鸟巢，因为这是我们唯一一天会进入国家公园的主要地区。我们第一个目标是看一花冠皱盔犀鸟的巢。在我们等的时候，我们看到了横斑翠鸟、和平鸟和栗斑杜鹃。

After an hour of waiting, the male Wreathed Hornbill returned to the nest area as it foraged, however it never returned to the nest hole. I managed a few record shots of it perched and in flight.
等了一个小时后，花冠皱盔犀鸟觅食时返回了巢穴附近，但它再也没有回到巢穴里。
Our next target was a Dusky Broadbill nest, which had been built awhile ago. We only managed to see an adult in the nest, no other broadbills visited it while we waited.
我们的下一个目标是暗色阔嘴鸟的巢，这个巢穴已经筑了一段时间了。在我们等待期间，我们只看到一只成鸟在巢里，没有其他阔嘴鸟回来。
In the area there were also a few Cambodian Flowerpeckers, Black-crested Bulbuls of the subspecies johnsoni, Dark Necked Tailorbird and a Orange-winged Flying Lizard.

As it was midday by the time we finished birding, we headed back to the visitor centre to have lunch. While we waited, we got some other animals, including Sambar Deer, Water Monitor, Chinese Water Dragon and Pig-tailed Macaques.
我们便返回游客中心吃午饭。等待午餐期间，我们看到了其他一些动物，包括水鹿、水巨蜥、长鬣蜥和豚尾猕猴。

We birded around the campsite area for some time, where one of the best birds was a pair of Long-tailed Broadbills which came down extremely low while feeding!

We added some other new birds, including Moustached Barbet, Collared Owlet and a Lesser Yellownape.
也有蓝喉拟啄木鸟，领鸺鹠，黄冠啄木鸟。
It was close to getting dark already, so we decided to drive around in search of mammals, especially elephants. Along the way, we also managed a Red Muntjac. It had gotten dark, and we thought we would be dipping the elephant for this trip. We were on our way back to our hotel, to the town's outskirts when we saw a lone bull feeding by the road.
我们决定开车四处转转，寻找哺乳动物，特别是亚洲象。途中，我们还看到了一只赤麂。正当我们返回酒店的路上，在镇郊时，我们看到一头孤零零的公象正在路边觅食。

It was quite interesting to see the police trying to chase it back into the forest, they shone flashlights at it and sprayed some substance, and it fled back into the darkness.

Our main target for today was Siamese Firebacks, and in order to see them, we had to reach Sakaerat Biosphere Reserve by dawn. Once we arrived, we had quite a few of these beautiful looking birds crossing the road in front of us.
我们今天的主要目标是戴氏火背鹇，为了看到它们，我们必须在黎明前抵达Sakaerat Biosphere Reserve 。到达后，我们看到不少这种美丽的鸟儿在我们面前穿过马路。
There wasn't much else in that patch of woodland, so we decided to have an early lunch before heading to the nearby wetlands to see what new birds we could find. Once we arrived at the wetlands, we immediately picked up some common species, including Paddyfield Pipit, Asian Openbill, Bank Swallow and Glossy Ibis.
林地里没其他东西，所以我们决定先吃顿早午餐，然后再前往附近的湿地看看能发现什么新的鸟类。已到湿地就看到了田鹨，钳嘴鹳，灰沙燕和彩䴉。
There were huge flocks of Oriental Pratincoles, and there were a few Small Pratincoles flying around. A few Pied Harrier drifted around, along with Brahminy Kites and a Lesser Whistling Duck.
有很大群的普通燕鴴，中间还看见灰燕鴴。也有鵲鷂，栗鳶和栗树鸭。

Today was our last day in Thailand, and for the morning most of the group headed out to the nearby park to get some local specialties. Some of the first birds we saw there included Plain Prinia, Indochinese Roller and Black-collared Starling.
